Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Solo Discount, a Shopify app developed and operated by Alterne LLC (“Alterne,” “we,” “us”). By installing Solo Discount on your Shopify store, you (“Merchant” or “you”) agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, don’t install the app.

The service

Solo Discount is a Shopify Function that enforces one discount per cart line at checkout. It provides two strategies — skipping variants already on sale, or discounting from the compare-at price with a price floor — plus the admin interface to configure them. We may improve, evolve, or replace individual features over time; we won’t remove core functionality without prior notice in the app.

Eligibility

Solo Discount is available to active Shopify merchants in good standing with Shopify. You’re responsible for ensuring that using the app is lawful in your jurisdiction and for your business, and that you have the authority to bind the store you install it on.

Subscription and billing

Paid subscriptions are handled exclusively through Shopify’s Billing API. When you choose a paid plan, Shopify creates a recurring application charge on your Shopify invoice on our behalf.

• Free plan — development, partner, and trial stores. Free for as long as the store remains in a non-production Shopify plan.
• Paid plans — production stores are placed on a paid plan tier matched to the store’s Shopify plan. The current tier names, monthly price, and any free-trial period are shown in the Solo Discount admin and confirmed by Shopify on the recurring-charge approval screen before any charge is made.

If your Shopify plan changes, your Solo Discount tier adjusts automatically at the next billing cycle. Prices may change — we will give at least 30 days’ notice in-app before any change affects your bill, and you can cancel at any time before the change takes effect by uninstalling.

Cancellation and refunds

You can cancel at any time by uninstalling Solo Discount from your Shopify admin. Billing stops at the end of the current billing cycle. Because Shopify Billing does not support prorated refunds, we don’t offer them either. If something went wrong on our end — for example, you were charged after a failed uninstall — email us and we’ll work with Shopify to make it right.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Resell, sublicense, or rebrand Solo Discount as your own product.
• Reverse engineer the app or its Shopify Function for the purpose of building a competing product.
• Use the app in a way that violates Shopify’s Acceptable Use Policy, or any applicable law.
• Use the app to circumvent payment obligations to Shopify or to your own customers.

Your data

How we handle data is described in our Privacy Policy. Solo Discount does not request Shopify Protected Customer Data and does not store your customers’ personal information.

Intellectual property

The Solo Discount app, brand, code, and content are the property of Alterne LLC. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app on the Shopify store where it is installed, for the duration of your subscription. Your store, your products, and your configuration remain yours.

Warranties and disclaimers

Solo Discount is provided “as is” and “as available.” We work hard to keep the app reliable, but we don’t warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or fit for any particular purpose beyond the features explicitly described. In particular:

• Checkout availability ultimately depends on Shopify’s infrastructure, not ours.
• You are responsible for reviewing the discounts you configure and for verifying the result on test orders before running a live promotion.

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Alterne LLC’s total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or related to Solo Discount is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD 100. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including lost revenue, lost margin, or lost goodwill.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold Alterne LLC harmless from claims arising out of your misuse of the app, your violation of these terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

Termination

Either party may terminate this agreement at any time. You terminate by uninstalling. We may terminate or suspend your access if you breach these terms, violate Shopify’s Acceptable Use Policy, or create risk for other merchants or for Shopify’s platform. On termination, the license granted above ends and we delete your app data as described in the Privacy Policy.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Oregon, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Oregon, and you consent to their exclusive jurisdiction.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we’ll change the “Last updated” date above and — for material changes — notify you in the admin app. Continued use of Solo Discount after the effective date of an update means you accept the updated terms.
